Taxonomy
Avicula venetiana was named by Hauer (1850).

It was recombined as Pseudomonotis (Eumorphotis) venetiana by Ogilvie Gordon (1927); it was recombined as Eumorphotis venetiana by Hsu (1937), Nakazawa (1981), Yang et al. (1986) and Hautmann et al. (2013).
