Taxonomy
Zaphrentites permicus was named by Xu (1977). Its type specimen is IV 38525 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Maogang, Dayong County, which is in a Roadian/Capitanian carbonate limestone in the Maokou Formation of China.
