Sanguinolites etheridgei was named by de Koninck (1877).
It was recombined as Chaenomya etheridgei by Laseron (1910); it was recombined as Vacunella etheridgei by Runnegar (1967), Muromtseva (1981), Muromtseva and Guskov (1984) and Waterhouse (1987); it was recombined as Cunavella etheridgei by Astafieva-Urbajtis (1990).
