Taxonomy
Productus mammatiformis was named by Fredericks (1926).

It was recombined as Muirwoodia mammatiformis by Kashirtsev (1959); it was recombined as Yakovlevia mammatiformis by Lee and Gu (1980), Pavlova et al. (1991), Kalashnikov (1993), Tazawa (1999), Tazawa (2008), Tazawa (2011) and Tazawa et al. (2015).
