Procavia pliocenica
Taxonomy
Procavia pliocenica was named by Pickford (2005). Its type specimen is PQ L 23564, a mandible (mandible with both bodies but lacking incisors), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Lang. E Quarry-PPM 3aN, which is in a Zanclean floodplain sandstone in the Varswater Formation of South Africa.
