Toucasia was named by Munier-Chalmas (1873) [Sepkoski's age data: K Haut K Coni-u Sepkoski's reference number: 972]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Requieniidae by Hayami (1975); to Hippuritoida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Requieniinae by Skelton (2013).
