Cortinia was named by Leonardi (1943) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr u]. It is not extant. Its type is Cortinia catharinae.

It was assigned to Pholadomyoida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Pholadomyidae by Ros-Franch et al. (2014).
