Taxonomy
Cosmomya was named by Holdhaus (1913) [Sepkoski's age data: C Vise P u Sepkoski's reference number: 967]. Its type is Cosmomya egregia.

It was assigned to Sanguinolitinae by Morris et al. (1991); to Pholadomyoida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Pholadomyinae by Neves et al. (2014).
