Taxonomy
Venericardia ascia was named by Rogers (1839). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was synonymized subjectively with Venericardia planicosta by Clark (1895); it was recombined as Venericardia (Venericor) ascia by Gardner and Bowles (1939).
