Myochama was named by Stutchbury (1830) [Sepkoski's age data: T Ol-u R Sepkoski's reference number: 530]. It is extant.

It was assigned to Pholadomyoida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Myochamidae by Vokes (1980), Lamprell and Healy (1998) and Bouchet et al. (2010).
