Taxonomy
Venericardia pilsbryi was named by Stewart (1930). Its type specimen is ANSP 12510a, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. It is the type species of Venericardia (Leuroactis).

It was recombined as Venericardia (Leuroactis) pilsbryi by Stewart (1930); it was recombined as Venericardia (Venericor) pilsbryi by Gardner and Bowles (1939).
