Taxonomy

Venericardia horatiana was named by Gardner (1927). Its type specimen is USNM 369238, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Venericardia (Leuroactis) horatiana by Stewart (1930); it was recombined as Venericardia (Venericor) horatiana by Gardner and Bowles (1939).
