Taxonomy
Venericardia peruviana was named by Olsson (1928). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Negritos [Salina Fm], which is in a Lutetian coastal sandstone in the Salina Formation of Peru.
It was recombined as Venericardia (Venericor) peruviana by Gardner and Bowles (1939).
