Chicoreus venezuelanus
Taxonomy
Murex venezuelanus was named by Hodson and Hodson (1931). Its type specimen is PRI 24101, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.
It was synonymized subjectively with Murex (Chicoreus) brevifrons by Woodring (1959); it was recombined as Chicoreus (Chicoreus) venezuelanus by Vokes (1965); it was recombined as Chicoreus venezuelanus by Landau and Marques da Silva (2010).
