Taxonomy
Purpura delessertiana was named by d'Orbigny (1841). It is extant.

It was recombined as Thais (Stramonita) delessertiana by Keen (1971); it was synonymized subjectively with Stramonita biserialis by Landau and Marques da Silva (2010); it was recombined as Stramonita delessertiana by Mogollón (2001) and Claremont et al. (2011).
