Taxonomy
Nautilus quadrangulus brahmanicus was named by Griesbach (1880) [Nautilus quadrangulus var. brahmanicus]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Shalshal Cliff, Bed 2, Rimkin Paiar, which is in a Griesbachian offshore limestone in India.
It was recombined as Nautilus brahmanicus by Griesbach (1880) and Diener (1897); it was recombined as Grypoceras brahmanicum by Muller and Ferguson (1939).
