Taxonomy
Poromya was named by Forbes (1844) [Sepkoski's age data: K Apti R Sepkoski's reference number: 1066]. It is extant.

It was assigned to Pholadomyoida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Poromyidae by Vokes (1980), Lamprell and Healy (1998), Wienrich (1999) and Bouchet et al. (2010).
