Mitra conquisita was named by Conrad (1848). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Vicksburg, which is in a Rupelian marine marl in the Byram Marl Formation of Mississippi.
It was recombined as Fusimitra conquisita by Harris and Palmer (1947) and Landau and Marques da Silva (2010).
