Unklesbayella was named by Hoare et al. (1978) [Sepkoski's age data: C Serp-l C Step-l Sepkoski's reference number: 105,1066].

It was corrected as Unklesbyella by Hoare et al. (1978); it was misspelled as Unklesbyella by Sepkoski (2002).

It was assigned to Megadesmidae by Hoare et al. (1978); and to Pholadomyoida by Sepkoski (2002).

R. D. Hoare et al. 1978Small, equivalved, strongly inequilateral megadesmid with a pronounced umbonal ridge, nongaping margins, and inflated umbones.

Small shells with truncated posterior margin; strong umbonal ridge; es-cutcheon present but lunule absent; prosogyrate beaks; nymph present; dentition consisting of a large tooth under beak of right valve and a narrow elongate tooth anterior to beak of left valve.
