Orthis filosa was named by Sowerby (1839). It is not extant.

It was recombined as Stropheodonta (Leptostrophia) filosa by Reed (1917); it was recombined as Leptostrophia filosa by Holland (1963) and Bassett and Cocks (1974); it was recombined as Mesoleptostrophia filosa by Hoel (2011).
