Taxonomy
Aglaspis was named by Hall (1862) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Fran Cm Trep-u Sepkoski's reference number: 1031]. Its type is Aglaspis barrandei. It is the type genus of Aglaspididae.

It was assigned to Merostomata by Sepkoski (2002); to Aglaspidida by van Roy (2006); and to Aglaspididae by Størmer (1955), Hesselbo (1992), Ortega-Hernandez et al. (2013) and Lerosey-Aubril et al. (2017).
