Knightites (Knightites) bransoni was named by Yochelson (1960). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USNM712i, McGregor Ranch, Orogrande, which is in a Sakmarian shallow subtidal limestone in the Hueco Formation of New Mexico.
It was recombined as Knightites bransoni by Wagner (2023).
