Oliva nebulosa was named by Lamarck (1822) [DISTRIBUTION: Oligocene-Recent; Indo-Pacific.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Olivancillaria (Agaronia) nebulosa by Vredenburg (1925); it was recombined as Olivancillaria (Anazola) nebulosa by Eames (1950); it was recombined as Agaronia nebula by Harzhauser et al. (2009).
