Taxonomy
Marathonites (Almites) pamiricus was named by Toumansky (1949). Its type specimen is TsNIGR 40/5629 and is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Cardiella pamirica by Leonova (1981), Leonova (1989), Bogoslovskaya (1990), Leonova (1992) and Leonova (2002).
