Taxonomy
Rolfeia was named by Waterston (1985) [Sepkoski's age data: C Tour-u Sepkoski's reference number: 1066]. Its type is Rolfeia fouldenensis. It is the type genus of Rolfeiidae. It was considered monophyletic by Lamsdell (2016).
It was assigned to Paleolimulidae by Waterston (1985); to Xiphosurida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Rolfeiidae by Selden and Siveter (1987), Lamsdell (2016), Lamsdell (2020) and Dunlop et al. (2020).
