Kufengoceras was named by Ruzhencev (1956) [Sepkoski's age data: P Leon P Guad-l]. It is not extant.
It was synonymized subjectively with Shengoceras by Zhou et al. (2000), Leonova (2002) and Furnish et al. (2009).
It was assigned to Kufengoceratidae by Bogoslovskaya (1990); to Goniatitida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Kufengoceratinae by Zhao (1980), Korn (2006) and Ehiro (2008).
It was synonymized subjectively with Shengoceras by Zhou et al. (2000), Leonova (2002) and Furnish et al. (2009).
