Cycloidea was named by Glaessner (1928). It is not extant.

It was reranked as the order Cyclida by Schram et al. (1997), Sepkoski (2002) and Dzik (2008).

It was assigned to Marrelomorpha by Sepkoski (2002); to Maxillopoda by Schram et al. (1997) and Schweigert (2007); and to Branchiura by Dzik (2008).
