Gigantospongia discoforma
Taxonomy
Gigantospongia discoforma was named by Rigby and Senowbari-Daryan (1996). Its type specimen is USNM 480456 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Sponge Window, Bat Cave Draw, Guadalupe Mountains, which is in a Capitanian reef, buildup or bioherm bindstone in the Capitan Formation of New Mexico.
