Taxonomy
Pelicaspongia sterea was named by Rigby (1970). It is not extant. Its type locality is Hummingbird Creek, which is in a Frasnian perireef or subreef limestone/shale in the Mount Hawk Formation of Canada. It is the type species of Pelicaspongia.
