Taxonomy
Plocoscyphia reticulata was named by Hinde (1883). It is not extant. It is the type species of Exanthesis, Exanthesis (Exanthesis).

It was recombined as Exanthesis reticulatus by Moret (1925); it was recombined as Exanthesis (Exanthesis) reticulata by Reid (2004).
