Dyscritella epidema was named by Lisitsyn (1986). Its type specimen is PIN 4222/2 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Kozhim River, Iren' Horizon, Kozhim-Rudnik settlement, which is in a Kungurian marine horizon in the Russian Federation.
