Taxonomy

Eucaenus was named by Scudder (1885). Its type is Eucaenus ovalis. It is the type genus of Eucaenidae.

It was assigned to Palaeodictyoptera by Scudder (1885); and to Eucaenidae by Handlirsch (1906), Handlirsch (1911), Handlirsch (1919), Handlirsch (1922), Carpenter and Richardson (1976) and Carpenter (1992).

Synonyms

Teneopteron was named by Carpenter (1943).

It was synonymized subjectively with Eucaenus by Carpenter and Richardson (1976) and Carpenter (1992).

It was assigned to Teneopteridae by Richardson (1956).
