Taxonomy
Astarte vallisneriana was named by King (1848). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Whitley, compact limestone, which is in a Wuchiapingian carbonate limestone in the Ford Formation of the United Kingdom.
It was recombined as Astartella vallisneriana by Newell (1955) and Logan (1967).
