Taxonomy
Blastinia bulbosa was named by Hurcewicz (1975). It is not extant. Its type locality is Wydrzynow, which is in an Oxfordian perireef or subreef limestone in Poland.

It was recombined as Astrospongia bulbosa by Finks et al. (2004).
