Myrmecium hemisphaericum was named by Goldfuss (1826). It is not extant.

It was recombined as Myrmecidium hemisphaericum by Vinassa de Regny (1901); it was recombined as Eusiphonella hemisphaerica by Wagner (1964); it was recombined as Epitheles hemisphaerica by Finks et al. (2004).
