Taxonomy
Coscinotrypa gigantea was named by Kruchinina (1973). Its type specimen is VNIGRI 75/916 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Shchuch'ya River, Sakmarian, northern Timan, which is in a Sakmarian marine horizon in the Ilibeiskaya Formation of the Russian Federation.
