Linguagnostus was named by Kobayashi (1939) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm mMid-u Cm uMid-u Sepkoski's reference number: 16]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Diplagnostidae by Whittington et al. (1997) and Jell and Adrain (2002); and to Agnostida by Sepkoski (2002).
