Macannaia was named by Jell (1975) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Tojo-u Cm mMid-l]. It is not extant. Its type is Pagetia maladensis.
It was assigned to Eodiscidae by Palmer and Halley (1979), Whittington et al. (1997); and to Agnostida by Sepkoski (2002).
