Taxonomy
Tcholmanvissia was named by Zalessky (1929). It is not extant. Its type is Tcholmanvissia noinskii.

It was synonymized subjectively with Pinegia by Sharov (1968), Carpenter (1992) and Gorochov (1995).

It was assigned to Tcholmanvissiidae by Zalessky (1934) and Béthoux (2007); and to Tcholmanvissiinae by Béthoux and Nel (2002) and Gorochov (2013).
