Taxonomy
Platycuccoceras cainense was named by Bucher (1992). Its type specimen is USNM 448256 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Muller Canyon HB 254, Augusta Mountains, which is in a Pelsonian marine horizon in Nevada.
