Taxonomy
Saurodectes vrsanskyi was named by Rasnitsyn and Zherikhin (1999). Its type specimen is PIN 4210/7056, an exoskeleton (complete insect), and it is an impression. Its type locality is Baissa (PIN collection 4210, layer 35), which is in an Aptian lacustrine - large siltstone/marl in the Zaza Formation of the Russian Federation. It is the type species of Saurodectes.
