Taxonomy
Polyporella optima was named by Morozova (1986). Its type specimen is PIN 2437/166 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Tunkheym Mountain, Bjornoya, which is in a Kungurian marine horizon in the Kapp Starostin Formation of Norway.
