Taxonomy
Epimastax hesterae was named by Rasnitsyn and van Dijk (2011). Its type specimen is NMSA 2737, a forewing, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Bulwer (Bul 111), which is in a Changhsingian delta plain shale in the Estcourt Formation of South Africa.
