Metadoxides was named by Bornemann (1891) [Sepkoski's age data: ]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Metadoxididae.

It was assigned to Redlichiida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Metadoxididae by Jell and Adrain (2002).
