Taxonomy
Maychella edita was named by Morozova (1970). Its type specimen is PIN 2830/87 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Levaya Imlyaki River, Penzhinskaya region, Kamchatka, which is in a Wordian marine horizon in the Omolon Formation of the Russian Federation.

It was recombined as Maychellina edita by Morozova (1981).
