Taxonomy
Polypora nianekensis was named by Morozova (1981). Its type specimen is PIN 2437/157 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Nianek River, Kolyma River, which is in a Wordian marine horizon in the Omolon Formation of the Russian Federation.
