Taxonomy
Penniretepora hashimotoi was named by Sakagami (1964). Its type specimen is Hokkaido Gakugei Univ 8734 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Shigeyasu Quarry, Akiyoshi, which is in a Roadian carbonate limestone in the Akiyoshi Formation of Japan.
It was recombined as Filites hashimotoi by Morozova (2001).
