Taxonomy
Mytilus (Modiola) pallasi was named by de Verneuil (1845). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Itschalki, Piana River, which is in a Roadian shallow subtidal limestone in the Russian Federation.

It was recombined as Mytilus pallasi by de Verneuil (1845); it was recombined as Cleidophorus pallasi by Geinitz (1861) and Golowkinsky (1869); it was recombined as Modiola (Mytilus) pallasi by Mansuy (1912); it was recombined as Netschajewia pallasi by Lutkevich and Lobanova (1960); it was recombined as Stutchburia pallasi by Muromtseva and Guskov (1984); it was recombined as Verneuilnodon pallasi by Fang and Carter (2022).
