Chirotherium vorbachi was named by Kirchner (1927). It is considered to be a form taxon. It is a trace fossil. Its type locality is Aura an der Saale tracksite, which is in a Buntsandstein terrestrial horizon in Germany.
It was synonymized subjectively with Chirotherium barthi by Peabody (1948), Kuhn (1958) and Demathieu (1970); it was synonymized subjectively with Chirotherium barthii by Haubold (1969), Haubold (1971) and Klein and Lucas (2021).
