Taxonomy
Bellerophon squamatus mongoliensis was named by Grabau (1931). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Jisu Honguer Limestone Undivided, which is in a Wordian carbonate limestone in the Zhesi Formation of China.

It was recombined as Bellerophon (Bellerophon) mongoliensis by Yochelson (1960); it was recombined as Bellerophon mongoliensis by Grabau (1931) and Wagner (2023).
